College Entrance Exam Testing at Samohi 2025-2026

PSAT

All 9th, 10th and 11th grade Samohi students will be taking the PSAT College Board Exam at Samohi free of charge on Tuesday, October 21, 2025

The PSAT/SAT will be given to all 9th, 10th and 11th grades at Santa Monica High School on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Students need to check in to their assigned classroom by 8:30am. No one will be admitted to a room once testing has begun.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE! The following materials are prohibited: cell phones must be turned off and put away in a bag or backpack, airPods, headphones, alarm watches, protractors, compasses, rulers, stencils, dictionaries (including those used to translate English to another language) or other books, pamphlets, papers of any kind, highlighters, colored pens or pencils, or listening, recording, copying, or photographic devices, and other aids. 

Please be aware that during testing students will not be able to access any electronic devices during the duration of the testing time.  Student scores will be invalidated if their device is not put away or makes noise during the exam. You may bring bottled water only, and light snacks. You will be directed to remove them from your backpack and placed underneath your desk.

Your English teacher will announce and post your testing room location to your Google Classroom.  All students pre-approved for testing accommodation through the College Board will receive accommodated testing.  Accommodated students will be notified through their smmk12 email.  Please bring enough snacks. Accommodated students will not be given a lunch break.

Students need to bring…..

  1. Samohi-issued chromebook, fully charged.
  2. You must have a photo ID (government issue or school id) to take the PSAT exam.
  3. You may bring a calculator (-a quiet type; no beeping, talking or other noises). 
  4.  It is recommended you bring two sharpened #2 pencils. Pens or mechanical pencils are not allowed.

All students are required to attend school, even if they opt out of testing. Attendance will be taken. If a student has opted out of testing, the student will be assigned a room. The student will be notified through smmk12 email.

SAT

All 11th grade Samohi students will be taking the SAT College Board Exam at Samohi free of charge on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

The SAT will be administered digitally. Students do not need to “sign up” for the SAT.  Students will be assigned a testing classroom through their English classes. Students need to check in to their assigned classroom by 8:55am. No one will be admitted into their testing room once testing has begun.

Student will be with their log in info for Bluebook, and the in-app practice tests by Wednesday, March 25, 2026. Students will have access to full-length practice tests. Log in info will be distributed during their English class. Students will need to complete the Digital Readiness Check on their own. This is the same process as the PSAT.

Day of the test…..

Students may bring bottled water only, and light snacks, recommend to place in clear ziplock bag. They will be directed to remove them from their backpack and place underneath their desk.

English teachers will announce and post testing room location to their Google Classroom.  All students pre-approved for testing accommodation through the College Board will receive accommodated testing.  Accommodated students have been emailed their testing room location through their smmk12 email by Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Students need to bring…..

  1. Samohi-issued chromebook, fully charged. If students have technical difficulties during testing, IT will not be able to support students using personal computers.
  2. Students must have a photo ID (government issue or school id) to take the PSAT exam. Students will be sent to the Vike’s Inn to purchase an ID, if they don’t have one.
  3. Students may bring a calculator (-a quiet type; no beeping, talking or other noises). There is a calculator embedded in the testing software.
  4. It is recommended students bring two sharpened #2 pencils. Pens or mechanical pencils allowed. Students will receive scratch paper.


If parents wish to opt out their student, please email Ms. Bravo, M House Principal, by March 20, 2026. Students are required to attend school, even if they opt out of testing.   Attendance will be taken. Teachers have been informed that all 11th grade students will be in their testing room or the opt out location. If a student has opted out of testing, the student will be assigned a room, and will need to sign in by 8:55am.
