Career Technical Education (CTE) helps students gain valuable academic and technical skills for postsecondary institutions and high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers across a wide range of industry sectors. Nationwide, students are experiencing high-engagement and are graduating college and career-ready through a variety of pathways.

Nestled in the heart of Silicon Beach and surrounded by the entertainment industry, the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District has CTE pathways designed to prepare students for local industry. Specifically, Santa Monica High School offers pathways in Arts, Media, & Entertainment (AME), Engineering, Health Science and Medical Technology, Information & Communication Technologies (ICT), Public Service and Transportation.

Samohi Academies

Samohi Academies integrate multiple courses (CTE + content area + English) giving students a dynamic, project-based, capstone experience — it's like a 3 for 1 opportunity!  Currently, Samohi offers the Engineering Academy where students take Engineering Design and Development, Applications of Physics in Engineering, and English 12 for Engineering.  The Health & Wellness Academy and the Law & Public Policy Academy are expected to launch in the Fall of 2025.
