Academic Decathalon

Grade Level: 12
Meets UC/CSU requirements only if combined with specific courses as cleard by advisors. No Social Studies credit given after 2003-2004 school year for this course.
Year Course (5 credits per semester)
Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation and entrance examination.

Students in this course compete in the Los Angeles County Academic Decathlon competition that is comprised of ten events. There are seven multiple-choice exams - one in each of the following subject areas:

• Art,
• Economics,
• Langauge and Literature,
• Mathematics,
• Music,
• Science, and
• the Super Quiz (Social Science.)

Students will also take an Essay exam and will be judged in a Speech event as well as an Interview event.
